In a late-night operation, the Patna Police raided a house in Sabalpur linked to a long-running vehicle theft racket. During the raid, authorities recovered three auto-rickshaws and two motorcycles believed to be stolen. Senior police officials said that the suspects had been under surveillance for several weeks after complaints of missing vehicles surfaced from various parts of the city.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the racket had been operating for months stealing vehicles under the cover of darkness and then dismantling or reselling them. The police added that they have detained several suspects for questioning, and further raids may be imminent as the net is widened. Victims of theft are being asked to check the seized vehicles list and report if they recognise their vehicles.
Patna Police emphasized that the crackdown is part of a larger drive against organised crime and vehicle theft networks. Residents welcomed the move, expressing hope that law-and-order will improve in the city’s vulnerable localities.
