In a move aimed at enhancing academic transparency and accountability, the Bihar government today issued a directive requiring all state-affiliated universities to publicly disclose daily teaching activities on their official websites. The announcement, issued by the Department of Education, mandates that every affiliated varsity publish details including lecture schedules, faculty assignments, attendance records, course progress, and deviations from planned syllabi for students and parents to view in real time.
Officials stated that the directive builds on earlier efforts to strengthen institutional transparency and ensure that academic commitments match official calendars. Under the new requirement, universities will post a daily summary by evening, detailing which courses were taught, topics covered, substitute teaching arrangements, and any cancelled or rescheduled sessions. The step aims to empower students — especially those in remote districts — with timely information about classroom delivery and learning continuity.
In addition to public postings, universities must archive daily teaching logs for audit purposes and allow parents and stakeholders to raise concerns through a designated nodal officer. The
University administrators across Bihar have been given a two-week window to implement the system fully, with technical support expected from the state’s digital education cell. Student representatives welcomed the directive, saying it could help reduce absenteeism and ensure a consistent focus on core learning goals throughout the semester.
Officials clarified that failure to comply with the disclosure requirements could result in administrative review or performance evaluations linked to institutional accreditation and funding.
