Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Northeast’s first highway-based emergency aircraft landing facility in Assam.
The infrastructure enables aircraft to land on highways during emergencies and is intended to improve disaster response and defence preparedness. Officials said the facility enhances operational flexibility for both civilian and military aviation.
The project is part of broader infrastructure expansion in the region, aimed at strengthening connectivity and strategic readiness in border areas.
