Bihar Police today launched a statewide enforcement drive targeting illegal sand mining operations across multiple districts. The coordinated action involved district police units, mining officials and transport authorities conducting raids at identified hotspots along riverbeds and construction zones. Several vehicles, machinery and unaccounted sand stockpiles were seized during the operation.
Senior officials stated that the drive aims to curb environmental degradation, prevent revenue loss to the state and dismantle organised networks involved in illegal extraction and transportation of sand. Financial investigations have also been initiated to trace assets and money trails linked to mining syndicates. Police confirmed that repeat offenders will face stricter legal action, including property attachment.
Local administrations have been instructed to maintain constant surveillance in vulnerable areas and strengthen coordination with enforcement agencies. Officials said the crackdown will continue in phases and will not be limited to a single operation.
