Bihar is poised to make a significant leap in the field of industrialization as both the central and state governments collaborate on multiple large-scale projects aimed at attracting investments. These include the development of new airports, industrial parks, and logistics hubs—initiatives expected to provide strong momentum to the state’s economy and generate employment opportunities for millions.
Strengthening Connectivity
Bihar is actively working toward developing world-class connectivity infrastructure. Currently, the region is served by seven airports, three of which—Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga—are located within Bihar. Additionally, four airports in neighboring states—Deoghar, Kushinagar, Varanasi, and Bagdogra—are within a 50 km radius of the state border, enhancing regional connectivity.
When it comes to road infrastructure, Bihar ranks third nationally, boasting a road density of 3,166.9 km per 1,000 sq. km of geographical area. Rail and waterway networks are also undergoing rapid development. The state has a 3,803 km rail network and will soon be connected by seven national waterways, one of which—the Prayagraj-Haldia route—is already operational.
Expanding Industrial Infrastructure
To foster industrial growth, Bihar has made over 3,000 acres of industrial land available. A total of 84 industrial areas have been developed, offering reliable access to water and electricity. Additionally, 2.4 million square feet of plug-and-play industrial sheds have been constructed, with monthly rents priced at under ₹4 per sq. ft.

Dry Port and Export Infrastructure
A state-of-the-art Inland Container Depot (ICD) dry port has been constructed in Bihta (Patna). Supporting infrastructure includes an Irradiation Centre-cum-Export Pack House and an Integrated Export Pack House (IEPH), enabling direct exports from Bihar. These facilities were officially inaugurated on October 21, 2024, by Industries Minister Sh. Nitish Mishra.
Gaya to Become a Manufacturing Hub
Construction is underway on the Bihar. Integrated Manufacturing City (BIMCIGL) in Gaya, envisioned as an industrial cluster covering 1,670 acres around the Dobhi region. The project aims to establish Bihar as a leading manufacturing hub in eastern India.
