Patna, January 19, 2025:
In a major breakthrough, Patna police have busted a notorious chain-snatching gang and arrested four of its members. The gang was involved in over 50 chain-snatching incidents across different areas of the city in the past six months. Those arrested include Sujeet Kumar Paswan, Anand Kumar, Kundan Kumar, and Amit Kumar. The gang leader, Pinkesh Kumar, is currently absconding.
Arrest Details:
Sujeet Kumar Paswan:
He confessed to using the stolen money to build a house and impress his girlfriend. He also revealed that he once spent ₹8 lakh to have someone else sit in for him in the SSC GD exam back in 2013.
Anand Kumar:
Arrested from Marine Drive.
Kundan Kumar:
Caught while trying to flee from Gandhi Setu.
Amit Kumar:
Arrested from Mahnar, Vaishali district.
Modus Operandi: The gang would travel daily from Vaishali to Patna, commit thefts and snatching throughout the day, and return by night. Sujeet was an expert in snatching chains with just two fingers and would change the bike’s number plate during operations to avoid identification.
