A major fire broke out late Tuesday at the camp office of the Jan Suraj Party (JSP) near Pataliputra Roundabout in Patna, resulting in extensive damage to furniture, campaign records and several parked bikes. The blaze started around 5 p.m. according to officials, and three fire-tenders were deployed to bring it under control within ten minutes.
At the time of the incident, approximately 14 two-wheelers were parked inside the office compound. Five of these vehicles were completely destroyed by the fire while nine others were rescued. Several staff members present attempted to douse the flames before the fire department arrived. The cause of the fire remains unclear and is currently under investigation by the Patna Fire Service and local police.
Party workers alleged that the fire may have been deliberately set. “I checked the office just minutes before the fire started and everything seemed normal,” said a camp caretaker. Following the incident, supporters staged a protest demanding a full probe, citing concerns about the timing and sensitive pre-election period.
The fire comes amid heightened tensions in the state, with the JSP actively campaigning across multiple constituencies in the upcoming assembly elections. While no casualties were reported, campaign documents and electronic devices were among the materials lost in the blaze, potentially affecting the party’s operations in the concluding phase of voting.
