In a major push toward urban greening and sustainable infrastructure, the Bihar government has announced an extensive tree plantation drive along Patna’s Marine Drive and key highways, aiming to develop large-scale green corridors across the state.
The initiative will focus on planting thousands of trees along the Patna Marine Drive and major road stretches, enhancing both environmental sustainability and urban aesthetics. Authorities plan to integrate green belts with existing infrastructure to reduce pollution and improve air quality in the state capital.
As part of the broader vision, a green corridor is also being developed along the Patna–Gaya–Dobhi route, where over 21,000 fruit-bearing trees such as mango, jamun and amla will be planted. These plantations are expected not only to increase green cover but also provide economic benefits to local communities through fruit production and allied activities.
Officials said the project combines environmental conservation with livelihood generation, encouraging farmer participation and community-based maintenance models.
