The Patna Transport Department today revoked the permits of several city bus operators for repeatedly ignoring designated bus stops and violating traffic regulations. The decision follows months of warnings and notices issued to operators who continued to pick up and drop passengers at unauthorised locations, causing traffic congestion and safety hazards on major city roads.
According to transport officials, the permit cancellations affect operators who were found stopping along central arteries such as Boring Road, Bailey Road, Ashok Rajpath and Kankarbagh Main Road despite clear signage and directives to use designated bays and stops. Authorities said unauthorised halts disrupt the city’s traffic flow and endanger commuters, forcing the department to take strict action under relevant transport laws.
In an official statement, the Regional Transport Officer said that operators whose permits have been revoked may reapply only after fulfilling conditions that guarantee compliance with the traffic plan. The department also indicated that it will review permits and service agreements for all city buses to ensure better route adherence and passenger safety.
Officials emphasised that revocation is a corrective measure designed to improve overall urban mobility and urged operators to follow the rules to regain operating licences in the future.
