In a directive issued today, Patna District Administration announced that Gandhi Maidan the city’s largest public ground will no longer be used for morning exercise sessions, fitness activities. The decision was communicated to residents, club organisers and local fitness groups, citing the need to maintain the area’s upkeep and preserve its infrastructure.
Officials stated that the move comes after repeated instances of unauthorised use of the Maidan for organized exercise routines, and group activities that were being conducted without formal permission. Administration sources explained that many such events lacked safety oversight, crowd control measures and sanction from civic authorities, leading to wear and tear of the ground’s surface and complications in maintenance scheduling.
