The extended closure up from an earlier announcement that had set reopening for 2 January was issued to protect students from extreme chill and hazardous early-morning fog, which has reduced visibility on roads and compromised safe travel conditions. Education officials said the directive applies to regular classroom activities, although special sessions related to board or pre-board examinations may be held within the adjusted schedule if necessary and if weather conditions improve.
Parents were advised to keep children indoors during peak cold hours and to follow health guidelines aimed at preventing cold-related illnesses, such as adequate warm clothing, balanced nutrition and limited outdoor exposure during dense fog. The district education office also encouraged teachers to explore remote learning alternatives where feasible during the extended break.
