A major initiative has been launched to promote tourism in Bihar’s capital, Patna. With an investment of around ₹1000 crore, three brand new 5-star hotels are being developed. These hotels will not only provide world-class facilities to tourists but also create fresh opportunities for investment and employment in the state.
Bihar's Tourism Milestone in 2024
In 2024, Bihar recorded a historic achievement in the tourism sector, welcoming over 6.60 crore tourists so far. This includes 6.50 crore domestic and 7.30 lakh international tourists.
Tourism Minister Raju Kumar Singh announced on Friday that considering the rising number of tourists, the government has approved new tourism projects worth ₹1328 crore for the financial year 2024-25.
3 New Hotels to Be Built Under PPP Model
The three 5-star hotels will be built under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at the following locations in Patna:
Pataliputra Ashok
Bankipur Bus Stand
Sultan Palace Complex
Additionally, budget hotels will be developed in Sitamarhi, Rohtas, and Buxar with an investment of ₹84.27 crore. A pilgrim shed and cafeteria will be constructed in Asarganj (Munger) at a cost of ₹14.88 crore.
Janaki Temple to be Built Like Ram Mandir
The state government is also giving priority to religious tourism. In Punoura Dham, a temple dedicated to Maa Janaki (Sita) is being constructed in the style of Ram Mandir. For this, 50 acres of land are being acquired at a cost of ₹120 crore.

2-Star Hotels at Subdivision Level
To encourage hotel construction, the tourism policy has been revised to promote the building of 3-star hotels in district headquarters (minimum investment ₹7.5 crore) and 2-star hotels at the subdivision level (minimum investment ₹5 crore).
Special incentives will be given to projects that generate employment for local youth and differently-abled individuals.
