A 30-year-old cook working at the Jalla Hanuman Temple in Patna City died by suicide on Monday afternoon, police said. The deceased was identified as Ram Mangal Ram, a resident of Buxar district.
According to temple authorities, he went to rest after lunch but did not return for a long time. Colleagues later looked through a window and found him hanging from the ceiling inside his locked room. Police from the Bypass police station reached the spot, broke open the door and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Officials said the man had been transferred to the temple from another Hanuman temple in Patna only a few days earlier. Police stated that prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide, though a detailed investigation is underway to determine the reason behind the incident.
