The Patna Traffic Police have initiated a fresh traffic survey as part of efforts to ease daily congestion and improve vehicular movement across several major roads in the city. The move follows repeated concerns from commuters about frequent jams that slow travel and disrupt daily life.
According to officials, teams have started collecting detailed data on traffic patterns, vehicle loads and problematic junctions. The study will help identify key pressure points and inform a broader plan to control traffic jams more effectively. Authorities plan to focus on some of the busiest routes in Patna first, with proposed changes aimed at making movement smoother for both public and private vehicles.
The survey comes amid long-standing challenges on major thoroughfares such as Ashok Rajpath, Beli Road and Kankarbagh, which frequently experience peak-hour congestion. Traffic police intend to analyse patterns observed during the survey to redesign signalling, improve lane discipline and streamline traffic flow at critical intersections.
Officials have also indicated that any plan resulting from the survey will be presented to senior administrative authorities for approval before implementation. Preliminary discussions have highlighted the importance of removing roadside encroachments, optimizing signal timing and designating clearer routes for large vehicles.
The survey marks a renewed effort by civic authorities to partner with traffic engineering experts to reduce travel delays and improve road safety across Patna city.
