In a significant law-enforcement action on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, Patna Police apprehended a wanted criminal after a brief exchange of gunfire in the city, officials said. The suspect, who had been evading arrest for an extended period and was implicated in multiple criminal cases, was injured during the encounter and subsequently taken into custody.
According to police sources, the operation was launched based on credible intelligence about the accused’s location in a densely populated area of Patna City. When officers moved in to arrest him, he attempted to flee and allegedly opened fire at the police team, prompting a controlled response in which he was shot and immobilised.
The injured suspect was immediately provided first aid at the scene and then transported to a nearby hospital under police guard for medical treatment. Senior officers said the arrest marked a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to crack down on organised crime in the region.
Police said further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the suspect’s alleged criminal network and pending cases against him.
