Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has appointed Bihar minister Sanjay Kumar Paswan as the co-in-charge for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, signalling the party’s early preparations for the upcoming polls.
Sanjay Paswan currently serves as the Sugarcane Industries Minister in the Bihar government and is also the MLA from Bakhri constituency in Begusarai district. The new responsibility is seen as part of the party’s strategy to expand its organisational presence beyond Bihar and strengthen its role in eastern Indian politics.
Party leaders and workers welcomed the decision and expressed confidence that the appointment would help improve coordination and organisational mobilisation ahead of the elections. Many members also congratulated Paswan and said they expect the party to make stronger efforts to establish its political footprint in West Bengal.
