RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav addressed his party MLAs in Patna today amid the deepening family dispute involving Rohini Acharya, Tejashwi Yadav and other siblings. He urged legislators to focus solely on strengthening the organisation and assured them that he would sort out all family matters internally.
The controversy, which escalated after Rohini alleged mistreatment by her brother’s associates following her kidney donation to her father, has dominated political discussions. The issue worsened when three of Lalu’s daughters left the Patna residence. The growing rift raised concerns about the party’s unity, especially after its underwhelming electoral performance.
Lalu acknowledged the sensitive situation but emphasised that organisational discipline must not be affected. He instructed MLAs to engage closely with constituents and prepare for the upcoming legislative session. Party insiders say Lalu wishes to separate personal conflicts from political functioning to prevent long-term damage.
Several RJD members believe the family must reconcile quickly to maintain stability within the party. The leadership vacuum and public disagreements have drawn criticism from rival groups as well. Observers state that Lalu’s intervention may calm tensions, but meaningful resolution will require transparent discussions among family members.
