Bihar is witnessing a major political shift as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to resign from his post in mid-April, triggering the process for formation of a new government under the NDA alliance.

According to political sources, the development is linked to his recent election to the Rajya Sabha. He is expected to travel to Delhi around April 9 and take oath as a Member of Parliament on April 10. Soon after returning to Patna, he may submit his resignation to the Governor, likely around April 12.

The move is expected to set off a rapid political transition, with discussions already underway within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to select a new leader. A meeting of NDA legislators is likely to be held shortly after the resignation, where the next Chief Minister will be chosen.

If the timeline proceeds as expected, a new Chief Minister could take oath by around April 14, marking a significant leadership change in Bihar.
