Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has suddenly decided to step down from captaincy. Just recently, the Indian women’s cricket team won the gold medal in women’s cricket at the Asian Games under Kaur’s leadership.
Kaur has now decided to relinquish captaincy across all formats. However, she will continue to play as a player. Meanwhile, there is speculation that Smriti Mandhana could be appointed as the new captain.
Harmanpreet Kaur took charge as the captain of the Indian team in T20 Internationals in 2016. Later, after Mithali Raj announced her retirement in 2022, Kaur also became the captain of the ODI team.
