Cold wave conditions tightened their grip across Bihar today as temperatures dropped sharply in several districts, including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur. Dense fog blanketed highways and railway tracks during early morning hours, significantly reducing visibility and disrupting road and rail movement. Several long-distance trains reported delays, while motorists were advised to drive cautiously. Weather officials stated that dry north-westerly winds are contributing to the sudden fall in temperatures and similar conditions are likely to persist over the next few days.
Health authorities issued advisories urging residents to take precautions, particularly children, elderly people and those suffering from respiratory illnesses. Hospitals have been asked to remain prepared for a rise in cold-related ailments. Local administrations have been instructed to ensure shelter arrangements for homeless individuals and distribute blankets in vulnerable areas.
Farmers have also expressed concern over the impact of cold weather on standing crops, especially vegetables. Agricultural officials said monitoring teams are assessing possible effects. With winter conditions setting in earlier than expected, citizens have been advised to limit outdoor exposure during early mornings and late nights, use warm clothing and follow safety guidelines to avoid health complications.
