Bihar continued to experience harsh winter conditions today as a persistent cold wave affected most districts, including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur. Minimum temperatures dropped further, while dense fog reduced visibility during early morning hours, disrupting road and rail movement. Weather officials reported “cold day” conditions in several regions, warning that the chill may continue over the next 48 hours.
District administrations expanded relief arrangements for vulnerable populations. Night shelters were kept operational, and blanket distribution drives were intensified for the homeless and elderly. Health authorities issued advisories urging people to avoid early morning exposure, especially children and senior citizens, and to seek medical attention for respiratory symptoms.
Schools in some districts functioned with modified schedules, while farmers were advised to protect crops from frost damage. Officials said emergency services remain fully functional and urged citizens to follow safety advisories.
