Patna: A proposed temple dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has triggered a fresh political and social debate in Bihar. The development comes after visuals from a controversial “Modi Chalisa” event at Delhi’s Press Club of India went viral on social media.

According to reports, organisers associated with the Bihar State Transgender Welfare Board have also spoken about plans to construct a temple for PM Modi, with the proposed project reportedly involving an estimated ₹112 crore.

The controversy intensified after a cut-out of PM Modi, depicted as Lord Ram, was worshipped and a “Modi Chalisa” was recited at the Press Club premises. The Press Club of India clarified that it had not organised the event and said the programme was subsequently stopped.

The proposed temple has sparked questions over the use of such a large amount of money for a political leader’s temple, while supporters view the initiative as an expression of admiration for the Prime Minister.

The development has quickly become a talking point on social media, with opinions sharply divided between supporters and critics.

The big question now is: Will the proposed ₹112-crore Modi temple actually become a reality, or will the controversy force the plan to be reconsidered?
