India has reportedly resumed discussions with Zambia to explore investment opportunities in copper and other critical minerals.

The move comes as India looks to strengthen access to minerals essential for industries including electric vehicles, renewable energy, electronics and advanced manufacturing.

Critical minerals have become increasingly important for countries seeking to build secure supply chains. Copper, in particular, plays a major role in electrical infrastructure and the global energy transition.

India’s renewed engagement with Zambia reflects the country’s broader strategy to secure overseas mineral resources and reduce potential supply-chain vulnerabilities in the future.
