Patna, October 31, 2026: Preparations are gaining momentum in Patna Sahib for the 360th Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, with the Bihar government and local administration planning extensive arrangements for devotees expected to arrive from across India and abroad.
The celebrations are scheduled to take place from January 13 to 16, 2027, according to the Bihar Chief Minister’s Office.
Thousands of devotees expected
The administration is preparing accommodation and basic facilities to handle the expected influx of visitors. A temporary tent city is being planned, with arrangements for accommodation, drinking water, sanitation, medical facilities, parking and security.
According to the preparations reviewed by the state government, accommodation for around 20,000 devotees is being planned across approximately 20–30 acres.
Special transport arrangements planned
With large numbers of devotees expected to travel to Patna Sahib, authorities are also focusing on transportation.
Facilities at Patna Sahib, Gulzarbagh, Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar railway stations are being reviewed to improve the experience for arriving passengers. Additional bus services are also planned to help manage local transportation and reduce pressure on roads.
Officials are also examining the feasibility of a water metro service between Digha Ghat and Kangan Ghat as an additional transport option during the celebrations. However, this remains a proposal and will depend on a feasibility assessment.
Culture, Gatka and drone show among attractions
The Prakash Parv will combine religious celebrations with cultural programmes.
Preparations include plans for an International Sikh Conclave, cultural performances, traditional Gatka demonstrations, horse-riding competitions
These programmes are expected to add a major cultural dimension to the celebrations while highlighting Patna Sahib’s importance as a historic Sikh pilgrimage centre.
Focus on safety and cleanliness
The administration is also working on crowd management and public safety.
Police posts are planned at strategic locations, while departments have been directed to improve roads, lighting, sanitation and drinking-water facilities. Mobile toilets, water ATMs and medical facilities are also being planned for visitors.
Officials have been instructed to coordinate closely and complete preparations within the required timeline so that devotees can attend the celebrations safely and comfortably.
A major event for Patna
The 360th Prakash Parv is expected to bring together faith, history, culture and tourism in Patna.
For the city, the event is also an opportunity to showcase Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib and Bihar’s long-standing connection with Sikh history to visitors from across India and around the world.
With preparations already underway, Patna Sahib is set to become one of the city’s major cultural and religious centres of activity in January 2027.
