The Bihar Social Welfare Department today announced a simplified process for pensioners to complete their annual life-certification, allowing them to use Aadhaar authentication at Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the state. The move is intended to reduce the burden on senior citizens who previously had to physically report to pension disbursal offices or banks to prove they are alive in order to continue receiving monthly pension payments.
Under the revised procedure, pensioners can visit any CSC-e-Governance Service Centre with their Aadhaar number and complete the biometric authentication required for life-certification. CSC operators will assist applicants by validating their identity through Aadhaar biometric scans, after which the certification will be digitally recorded in the state pension management system. The electronic life certificate is then automatically updated with the pension disbursing agency, eliminating the need for multiple physical visits.

The department further clarified that this facility is available to all pensioners — including old age, disability, widow and other social security categories — and is expected to save time, reduce paperwork and minimise dependency on in-person verification. Pensioners are advised to carry their original Aadhaar card and a valid photo ID when visiting a CSC for life-certification.
State officials said additional awareness campaigns will be rolled out through local panchayats and ward offices so that eligible beneficiaries can make full use of this streamlined process.
