Patna: Danapur has become the meeting point for generations of soldiers as the 31st Biennial Conference and 15th Reunion of the Bihar Regiment gets underway at the Bihar Regiment Centre.
The four-day gathering, which began on October 23, has brought together serving personnel, retired officers and veterans to celebrate the regiment's long military legacy, traditions and achievements.
More Than Just a Military Gathering
For the Bihar Regiment, a reunion is not simply a formal event.
It is an opportunity for soldiers who served in different periods to meet again, share experiences and reconnect with former colleagues. The presence of veterans alongside serving personnel also creates a bridge between different generations of the regiment.
The event reflects the regimental spirit summed up by the phrase “Once a Bihari, always a Bihari.”
Remembering Sacrifice and Service
The programme began with a tribute to the history of the Bihar Regiment and the sacrifices made by its soldiers in service to the country.
For generations of personnel, the regiment's identity has been built around discipline, courage, camaraderie and commitment to duty. The reunion provides an opportunity to remember those traditions while passing their values on to younger members of the force.
Important Discussions Ahead
Alongside the reunion activities, the biennial conference provides a platform for senior officers to discuss regimental affairs, organisational capabilities and future priorities.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening the regiment's institutional framework, improving preparedness and preserving its traditions while adapting to the changing requirements of the Indian Army.
One of the important matters scheduled during the gathering is the selection
Veterans and the Next Generation
For retired personnel, the event carries a deeply personal significance.
Years after leaving active service, veterans get an opportunity to meet former colleagues and revisit memories from their military careers. At the same time, serving personnel get the chance to interact with those who came before them and learn from their experiences.
That connection between generations is an important part of maintaining military traditions.
Why It Matters to Bihar
The Bihar Regiment has a distinct place in Bihar's identity and in the history of the Indian Army.
Holding the reunion in Danapur, Patna, brings that military heritage closer to the state from which the regiment takes its name. It is also a reminder that Bihar's contribution to India's armed forces extends beyond individual soldiers to institutions, traditions and generations of service.
As the four-day gathering continues, the focus will remain on heritage, camaraderie, organisational discussions and the future of the regiment.
For Bihar, the reunion is not just about looking back at military history. It is also about carrying that legacy forward.
