A Patna businessman was robbed of jewellery worth approximately ₹20 lakh in a daring daylight theft today, prompting a swift police response and an active investigation into the brazen crime. The incident occurred in the Kankarbagh area, where the victim, identified as a middle-aged proprietor of a small manufacturing unit, was on his way home after visiting a local jeweller when the robbery took place.
According to preliminary information, the jeweller’s bag containing the high-value ornaments was snatched by two unidentified bike-borne assailants near a busy intersection. Eyewitnesses reported that the suspects approached at speed, forcibly grabbed the bag and fled toward a less crowded lane, disappearing before onlookers could intervene effectively.
The victim immediately raised an alarm and alerted nearby residents and shopkeepers. Local police arrived at the scene within minutes, cordoning off the area and recording the complainant’s statement. Officers said they have begun examining CCTV footage from traffic cameras and private cameras in the vicinity to trace the movements of the suspects and their vehicle.
Patna police have registered a theft and robbery case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and said that forensic teams are collecting physical evidence from the scene, including possible fingerprints and other clues that could help identify the culprits. Senior officers also appealed to the public to provide any information that might assist in the probe.
