As winter deepens, the meteorological department has issued warnings for dense fog, a spreading cold wave and likelihood of thunderstorms across several regions of India today. The alert affects the Himalayan foothills and northeastern areas, where chilly winds and mist may disrupt travel and daily life. Meanwhile, coastal and marine zones in the Bay of Bengal and Comorin region face risks from strong winds and rough seas  prompting advisories for fishermen to stay ashore. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, take health precautions, and for transport departments to remain vigilant. The advisory comes as a timely reminder to remain alert to seasonal hazards before conditions worsen.
