A minor boundary dispute over a mere two inches of land in Rasalpur village under the Fatuha police station area in Patna district turned lethal on Friday morning when a man allegedly opened fire during an argument, killing two people and injuring another, police said.
According to police and eyewitnesses, the conflict was between families over a piece of land measuring only two inches. The victims included a 50-year-old woman, identified as Rajmantri Devi, and a 55-year-old passerby, both of whom died from bullet injuries. A third person, a young man, was also shot and is receiving treatment at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH).
The dispute had reportedly simmered for some time and flared up during a discussion about erecting a pillar on the contested boundary. The accused, allegedly armed with a country-made pistol, fired multiple shots when tensions escalated.
