A fire and bomb alert onboard the Delhi-Patna Tejas Rajdhani Express caused panic and a comprehensive security operation at Aligarh Junction late last night. The high-speed train, bound for Rajendra Nagar Terminal in Patna, was halted mid-journey after reports of smoke and a possible explosive device in one of its coaches prompted railway and security authorities to take emergency action.
Witnesses said the train was stopped at Aligarh Railway Station shortly after the alert was received. Passengers were ordered off the train while GRP, RPF and a dog squad conducted a detailed inspection of all coaches and luggage areas. Firefighting units were also deployed at the platform as a precautionary measure. The security teams spent nearly 45 minutes checking the entire train and surrounding tracks, carefully searching for any sign of fire hazards or explosive materials.
Despite the alarming alert, the inspection concluded with no suspicious items found, and authorities determined that the reports were unsubstantiated. Railway officials said the train was allowed to resume its journey after the all-clear was given and safety assurances were confirmed.
The incident caused anxiety among passengers, some of whom disembarked temporarily during the checks. Rail staff maintained crowd control and assisted travelers in boarding once the threat was ruled out. Officials said they are now working to trace the source of the false alert, including the mobile number from which the report was sent, and warned that such false reporting could lead to legal action.
