At least five people were seriously injured after a gas cylinder explosion at a weekly market in Darbhanga district on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred when a woman was preparing food at a market stall and the LPG cylinder suddenly exploded, causing panic among nearby vendors and shoppers. All injured persons were initially admitted to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later referred to hospitals in Patna for advanced treatment.

Officials said the explosion took place during a busy market day, increasing the risk to public safety. Authorities have begun an inquiry into the cause of the blast and are examining safety compliance in local markets.
