In a major crackdown, police and drug control authorities have busted an illegal medicine godown in the Agamkuan area of Patna, seizing drugs worth nearly ₹1 crore.
The raid was conducted following specific intelligence inputs about the illegal storage and distribution of medicines. During the operation, officials recovered a large quantity of government-supplied medicines, anti-venom injections and other pharmaceutical products, which were allegedly being diverted for unauthorised use.
Authorities suspect that the medicines were part of a diversion racket, where drugs meant for public hospitals were illegally stored and sold in the open market. Some of the recovered injections are also believed to have been misused for intoxication purposes, raising serious public health concerns.
Police have detained several individuals linked to the operation and are questioning them to uncover the full extent of the network. Investigators are also examining supply chains, financial transactions and possible links to other districts.
