The Government of India has strongly condemned the attack on a commercial vessel near the Strait of Hormuz, expressing concern over threats to international maritime security and global trade routes.
In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said India “deplores the targeting of commercial shipping,” emphasising that freedom of navigation and the safety of maritime trade are critical for global economic stability. The government called for restraint and urged all parties involved in regional tensions to avoid actions that could escalate the situation further.
Authorities also said they are closely monitoring developments in the region and remain in contact with relevant agencies to ensure the safety of Indian seafarers and vessels operating in the area.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important shipping lanes, carrying a significant share of global oil supplies. Any disruption in the region can have wide-ranging implications for international trade and energy markets.
