In a major development for healthcare access in Bihar, educator and social figure Khan Sir today inaugurated a new affordable hospital in Patna, offering X-rays for ₹35 and kidney tests for ₹17 among other low-cost services. The initiative aims to tackle rising medical expenses that often deter economically vulnerable patients from seeking timely care.

The clinic, located in a residential-commercial area of Patna, is designed to serve low-income families, daily wage workers and senior citizens who have historically struggled with the high cost of diagnostic tests and routine consultations. Hospital officials said that the pricing structure was deliberately set at minimal rates to ensure that essential healthcare services are available to all, regardless of financial status.

At the opening ceremony, Khan Sir emphasised that access to basic healthcare should not be a privilege, but a fundamental right. He highlighted that the facility will initially offer key diagnostic services such as X-rays, kidney function tests, blood glucose tests and general consultations at subsidised rates. In the initial phase, the clinic will operate with a panel of qualified technicians and doctors who will oversee testing and reporting.

Local health activists welcomed the move, saying that affordable diagnostic centres can ease the burden on patients who otherwise delay treatment due to cost concerns. Some residents who attended the launch expressed optimism that the initiative could reduce overcrowding at larger hospitals by providing affordable preliminary screenings and referrals.

They emphasised that while low costs increase access, quality control and accurate diagnostics remain essential to building trust and delivering meaningful health outcomes.

The affordable hospital is expected to begin regular operations immediately, with walk-in patients welcomed during scheduled hours. Khan Sir and his team said that feedback from early users will help refine services and pricing as the centre evolves to meet community needs.
