Gas distribution company Indraprastha Gas Limited has issued a notice announcing a 20 percent reduction in gas supply to restaurants across the National Capital Region (NCR) amid concerns over limited fuel availability.
The company informed commercial consumers that the temporary cut has been implemented due to constraints in gas supply and rising demand. Restaurant owners and hospitality industry representatives said the move could affect daily operations, especially during peak business hours, as many establishments rely heavily on piped natural gas for cooking.
Industry bodies have expressed concern that the reduction may lead to operational challenges and increased costs if businesses are forced to switch to alternative fuels such as LPG cylinders. They have urged authorities to resolve the supply issues at the earliest.
Officials indicated that the measure is temporary and that efforts are being made to stabilise supply levels in the region.
