The Mahagathbandhan Party unveiled its election manifesto for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls under the slogan “Sampoorna Bihar ka, Sampoorna Parivartan – Tejashwi Pratigya, Tejashwi Pran”. At a packed event in Patna, alliance leader Tejashwi Yadav said the document expresses a full-scale vision to reset the state’s development trajectory.
Key pledges include guaranteeing one government job to at least one member of every household in the state which has around 2.76 crore households. The alliance promises to introduce legislation within 20 days of taking office and implement the job guarantee within 20 months.
The manifesto also sets out welfare commitments: 200 units of free electricity per household, a monthly stipend of ₹2,500 for women under the “Mai-Behin Maan” scheme, free public transport for women, and subsidised cooking-gas cylinders (₹500). For the farm sector and marginalised communities, it promises MSP for oilseeds, pulses and maize, revival of the mandi system, community farming on fallow land, and ₹5,000 per month for fishermen in lean season.
On governance and rights, the manifesto pledges to restore the old pension scheme (OPS), regularise all contractual and outsourced workers, and frame a posting-policy keeping staff within 70 km of their home district. Significantly, it pledges a review of the current prohibition policy notably exempting toddy from the ban.
Addressing critics who called the promises overly ambitious, Tejashwi said they were drawn up after consultations with experts and described the manifesto as a “resolution document” for the people of Bihar.
