Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav, was shifted to a government hospital in Patna on Saturday after his health condition reportedly deteriorated following his arrest in connection with a decades-old case.
Yadav was arrested late Friday night by Patna Police on the basis of a warrant issued by a special MP-MLA court in a 1995 case related to an alleged land dispute. Police officials stated that the arrest was carried out after he failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons.
Soon after being taken into custody, Yadav complained of health issues, following which he was taken for medical examination. He was initially admitted to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna. As his condition reportedly worsened, he was later shifted to Patna Medical College and Hospital for further treatment and monitoring.
Hospital authorities confirmed that Yadav is under medical supervision and that necessary tests are being conducted to assess his condition. Police personnel remain deployed at the hospital as he continues to be in judicial custody.
Speaking to the media earlier, Yadav alleged that the arrest was politically motivated and claimed that it was linked to his recent criticism of the Bihar government on various issues. However, police officials denied the allegation and maintained that the arrest was made strictly in accordance with legal procedures and court orders.
