A new modern parking facility has been inaugurated at Patna Junction railway station to meet rising demand for organised vehicle parking and reduce traffic congestion around the busy transport hub.
The updated parking area includes designated spaces for different types of vehicles, improved traffic flow arrangements, and better commuter amenities. Railway officials said the facility is expected to streamline vehicle movement and improve the overall commuter experience at one of the region’s busiest railway stations, which handles large daily footfall.
The initiative forms part of broader infrastructure enhancements at Patna Junction, where previous plans included introducing controlled entry and exit points, pick-and-drop zones, and a boom barrier system similar to airport parking. These improvements aim to bring order to a location that has long faced parking challenges due to high passenger volumes and mixed vehicle traffic.
Commuters welcomed the development, saying the new facility will help travellers avoid long waits and roadside parking hassles. Authorities said they will continue to monitor usage and explore additional upgrades to meet future demand.
