The much-anticipated Patna Metro is set to commence operations on August 15, 2025, marking a significant milestone in Bihar's urban infrastructure development. The inaugural phase, termed the "Priority Corridor," spans approximately 6.5 kilometers, connecting Malahi Pakri to the New ISBT. This corridor encompasses five elevated stations: Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak, Bhootnath Road, Zero Mile, and New ISBT.
Construction efforts are progressing rapidly, with civil works nearing completion. Track laying and the installation of electrical and telecommunication systems are underway, ensuring readiness for the scheduled launch. The metro depot at Ramachak Bairiya, covering 76 acres, is also approaching completion and will serve as the central hub for operations, maintenance, and control systems.
To facilitate seamless commuter transitions, a state-of-the-art multi-modal parking facility accommodating 225 cars is set to open near New Market. Additionally, smart parking expansions at Patna Junction will increase capacity to 5,000 vehicles, enhancing accessibility to the metro system.
The Patna Metro project, overseen by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), aims to alleviate traffic congestion and provide efficient, sustainable transportation options for the city's residents. Future expansions include connectivity to Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport and Bihta Airport, further integrating the metro into the region's transportation network.
With the launch date approaching, the Patna Metro stands poised to transform urban mobility, offering a modern transit solution that aligns with the city's growth and development objectives.
