A tragic incident in Patna has triggered widespread unrest after the mysterious death of a NEET aspirant led her family and others to take to the streets, block major junctions and demand a thorough investigation. The incident came to light when the body of the young woman, who was preparing for the NEET medical entrance examination, was found unresponsive in her hostel room and later declared dead at a hospital.
Following the news of her death, the victim’s family alleged that she had been sexually assaulted and murdered, claims that sparked anger among relatives, friends and local residents. In protest, demonstrators blocked Kargil Chowk, a major intersection in the city, leading to significant disruption of traffic and public movement. Chanting slogans against the police and hostel authorities, protesters demanded a comprehensive probe and the arrest of those responsible.
Police responded by opening a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, questioning witnesses and gathering evidence, while maintaining that no conclusion can be drawn before forensic reports and post-mortem findings are completed. Authorities urged protestors to maintain peace and assured that all leads will be explored as part of the inquiry.
Medical teams and forensic experts are examining the body and other evidence to determine the cause of death, including toxicology and physical injury assessments. Police said that at this stage the investigation remains open, and they will wait for the final post-mortem report before taking further action.
