The Patna district administration today ordered that all government and private schools including pre-schools and Anganwadi centres remain closed up to Class 8 until 2 January 2026, as an intense cold wave and dense fog continue to grip the region. The decision was taken after a review of weather forecasts and public safety concerns, with the aim of protecting children from the harsh winter conditions and low visibility during early morning hours.
According to the official directive issued by District Magistrate Dr. Thiyagarajan S.M., the closure applies from 31 December onwards, and schools are advised to reschedule academic activities accordingly. For students in Class 9 and above, school operations will be allowed only between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM to reduce exposure during the coldest parts of the day, though pre-board and board examination-related special classes are exempted from this restriction.
