Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday, February 5, 2026, that India’s recent trade agreements with the United States and the European Union demonstrate growing global trust in the country and will create new opportunities for Indian youth. The remarks came during his reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha at the Budget session.

Modi highlighted that India is now signing “future-ready” trade deals, including nine agreements with major economies, and described the pact with the EU involving 27 nations as the “mother of all deals.” He said these accords will benefit young people across rural, urban, and middle-class backgrounds by opening access to wider global markets and opportunities.

Addressing the deal with the United States, Modi noted that major world economies are eager to deepen trade ties with India, underlining the country’s expanding role in the global economy. He said that the world is increasingly looking to India as a trusted partner, and that its strategic policy direction has helped build confidence

among international partners.

Modi also touched on what he described as “correcting the mistakes of the past,” asserting that the government’s focus on policy and strategy has steered India toward stronger international engagement and stability. He framed the trade agreements as part of a broader shift that will shape India’s economic narrative in the coming decades.

The prime minister’s comments come amid broader diplomatic developments, including ongoing negotiations on the India-US trade pact expected to be formally concluded in March 2026, which involves tariff reductions and commitments on bilateral trade expansion.
