Bengaluru: Actor and political activist Prakash Raj has claimed that his name has been removed from the voter list in Bengaluru following the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Prakash Raj reportedly raised the issue through a video shared on social media platform X. Reacting to the deletion, the actor sarcastically described it as a “nice joke” and added “game on,” signalling that he intends to challenge or question the development.
The controversy comes at a time when electoral roll revisions and voter-name deletions have become a major political issue in Karnataka. The SIR process is aimed at reviewing and updating electoral rolls, including identifying duplicate, shifted or otherwise ineligible entries.
Prakash Raj’s latest claim has also attracted attention because he has previously faced allegations related to multiple voter registrations. A Bengaluru court granted him conditional bail in July in a case concerning allegations that his name appeared on voter rolls in multiple states. His legal team had earlier stated that his name had subsequently been deleted from the Tamil Nadu voter list.
The latest development has once again brought the issue of voter-list accuracy and deletion procedures into the spotlight. However, Prakash Raj’s claim regarding the Bengaluru voter list remains his allegation, and further clarification from election authorities would be needed to establish the circumstances behind the deletion.
The incident is likely to fuel a wider debate over electoral-roll revisions, voter verification and the safeguards in place to ensure that eligible citizens are not wrongly removed from
