With Republic Day celebrations just days away, the Patna district administration today announced updated entry and security guidelines for the public attending the flagship event at Gandhi Maidan. The move aims to ensure smooth crowd management, enhanced safety and seamless viewing for thousands of participants and spectators expected to gather for the parade and cultural performances.
Under the new guidelines, citizens wishing to access specific zones within Gandhi Maidan must enter through designated security checkpoints set up at multiple perimeter points. Entry will be permitted only after verified identification, and attendees are advised to carry valid photo ID cards, such as Aadhaar, voter ID, passport or school/college ID. Organisers stressed that bags and personal items will be screened at checkpoints, and no large luggage, prohibited objects or potentially hazardous materials will be allowed inside the venue.
To facilitate orderly movement, the administration has divided the grounds into separate sections for dignitaries, families, students and general spectators. Each zone will have clearly marked entry points and guidance teams to assist visitors. Spectators have been urged to arrive well before the scheduled start time to avoid last-minute congestion, as gates will close after designated cutoff times.
Security forces, including local police, traffic officials and paramilitary units, are coordinating to monitor the event through CCTV surveillance and on-ground patrolling. Emergency medical teams and first-aid stations will also be stationed at key locations within the Maidan to handle any health or safety concerns.
Officials cautioned that strict adherence
Traffic advisories were issued for surrounding roads, with temporary restrictions expected near the venue before, during and after the Republic Day event to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles and public transport. Commuters were advised to plan travel accordingly and use alternative routes when possible.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to making the Republic Day celebrations at Gandhi Maidan a memorable and safe experience for all residents, saying that public cooperation will be crucial in managing the large turnout.
