A man entered an SBI bank branch in Nagpur, Maharashtra, posing as a customer, and threw chili powder into the eyes of the staff as soon as he reached the cash counter. The accused then fled the scene with around Rs 4 lakh from the cash counter.
Blinded by the sudden chili powder attack, the bank employees could not see, causing chaos on the premises. The bank staff and security guard tried to chase the suspect, but he managed to escape by taking advantage of the crowd. Bank officials immediately informed the police control room and the Sakkardara police station.
Police scanned the CCTV footage from inside and outside the bank, which revealed the identity of the accused and his escape route. Following this, the police launched a search in the area and arrested the accused within about 30 minutes. They also recovered the entire looted amount of Rs 4 lakh from his possession. The police are interrogating the suspect to determine the motive behind the robbery.
