Concerns have emerged over the safety of the Vikramshila Setu after a protective structure around one of its pillars collapsed and two additional support walls were found severely damaged.

Officials said the bridge, which is a key link between northern and southern Bihar, is under inspection to assess structural stability. Authorities clarified that the main structure remains intact but admitted that repairs are urgently required to prevent further deterioration.

The development has raised questions about maintenance of ageing infrastructure in the state. Engineers have been deployed to conduct detailed assessments, while traffic movement continues under monitoring.

The bridge plays a crucial role in connectivity for the Seemanchal region, making its safety a priority for the administration.
