Actor Taapsee Pannu has expressed sorrow over the death of a NEET aspirant in Patna during her recent visit, calling attention to the increasing frequency of such incidents across the country. She said cases involving students have become alarmingly common and society has begun to normalise them, which she described as deeply concerning.
The student reportedly fell from the fourth floor of a coaching institute near AIIMS Patna and later died during treatment. Initial suspicions of sexual assault were not confirmed by doctors, although forensic examination reportedly detected biological traces on clothing, and a DNA profile is being prepared for comparison with suspects identified by investigators.
Authorities have transferred the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation, while police suspended two officers over delayed action. The victim’s parents also staged protests seeking justice, and political leaders visited the family following the incident.
