The trial run of two additional Patna Metro stations has been completed successfully, paving the way for their official opening to the public after the Holi festival, officials announced on Wednesday.
The newly tested stations are part of the ongoing expansion of the metro corridor aimed at enhancing urban mobility and reducing traffic congestion in key areas of the city. Railway and metro officials said safety checks, signalling assessments and trial operations were carried out over several days, and the results met all required standards.
Once operational, the two stations will improve connectivity for commuters living and working along the extended route. Authorities expect that the additional stops will cater to increased ridership demand, especially during peak hours. Final preparations for passenger services, including staff deployment, ticketing systems and last-mile connectivity arrangements, are now underway.
Metro officials thanked the technical teams and contractor partners for their work in achieving the successful trial. The move was welcomed by residents and daily commuters, who said the expanded metro network would provide a reliable and efficient alternative to road travel.
The exact date for the public inauguration will be announced soon, with officials indicating that services are likely to begin shortly after the Holi holiday celebrations.
