A tragic road accident in Jehanabad district, Bihar today claimed the lives of two young men after their motorcycle collided with a heavy goods truck on a busy highway, police confirmed. The incident occurred in the Makhdumpur–Jehanabad area when the bike carrying two riders reportedly lost control and struck the truck from behind during dense fog conditions that have persisted in the region.
According to local police, the victims were returning home after buying household supplies when the collision took place in the early morning hours. Both suffered severe injuries and were declared dead upon arrival at a nearby clinic by attending doctors. The identities of the deceased have been released as Ramveer Kumar (22) and Manish Yadav (20), residents of a nearby village. Relatives and villagers gathered at the hospital where tensions ran high as news spread.
Police officers on the scene said preliminary evidence suggests reduced visibility due to thick fog and possible overspeeding may have contributed to the accident, but a full investigation, including statements from the truck driver and forensic examination of the vehicle, is underway. The truck driver has been taken into custody for questioning, and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby road spots to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Local residents and commuters expressed grief and concern, urging officials to place adequate signage, speed-limit warnings and reflective markers along fog-prone stretches of the highway to prevent similar tragedies.
