A double murder occurred during a wedding ceremony in Patna on Saturday, 14 February 2026, when two men were shot dead over a land dispute, police said.

The incident took place in the S K Puri area of Kankarbagh locality, where family members had gathered for a wedding function. According to investigators, an ongoing dispute over a parcel of land between two families escalated into violence when the accused arrived at the venue and opened fire. Manjeet and Manish, both guests at the event, were struck by bullets and died at the scene. Several others were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police said police teams were conducting a detailed investigation, questioning eyewitnesses and reviewing CCTV footage from the area. The accused were said to have fled immediately after the shooting, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend them.

Local residents expressed shock at the incident, saying the wedding celebration turned tragic when long-running tensions over property boiled over into deadly violence. Police urged members of the community to maintain peace and come forward with any information that could assist in the probe.
